Cognac meets Islay

La Maison du Rhum Mauritius Batch 4

A wonderful combination of maturation in ex-cognac casks and a long finish in ex-Islay whisky casks. The cognac casks added a delicious note of candied fruits, while the casks from Islay added a splendid smokey punch.

La Maison du Rhum - An invitation to 'planet rum'

La Maison du Rhum is composed of extremely rare spirits, selected to meet the highest requirements in terms of quality: distillery selection, still type and ageing methods. Every bottle denotes a specific vintage or age and aims to respect the same values that make up the various parameters of the world of rum. La Maison du Rhum’s ambition is to value every origin and style, each tradition and know-how.

Mauritius 2012 comes from the Chamarel rum distillery which is renowned to produce one of the best rums of the island in addition to its hospitable Mauritian welcome. It is the younger distillery of the country, inaugurated in 2008, and produces French style rum from pure sugar cane juice sourced from their own sugar cane fields. This rum matured in ex-Cognac casks as well as ex-Islay whisky casks and is limited to 3.558 bottles.
